Als montessorischool werken wij vanuit de gedachte: Help mij het zelf te doen. In een omgeving waarin vertrouwen de grondhouding is, kun je leren wat verantwoordelijkheid is en hoe je hiermee om gaat. Hoe meer je in staat bent om verantwoordelijkheid te nemen, hoe meer vrijheid en ruimte je krijgt in je leerproces. We kijken naar wat je wel kan en niet naar wat je niet kan. Tussentijdse doorstroom is bij ons op school mogelijk. Het MLA is een cultuurprofielschool. Naast een uitgebreid aanbod aan cultuurvakken besteden we ook binnen de reguliere vakken aandacht aan cultuur. We bieden verdiepingsonderwijs in de onderbouw havo/vwo: bètaklas, kunstklas beeldend, kunstklas muzisch, multimediaklas, ontwerpklas, filosofieklas en sportklas. In de mavo/havo: filmklas, sportklas en een ontwerpklas. In de bovenbouw bieden wij versterkt talenonderwijs (DELF, Goethe, Cambridge). Bijzondere examenvakken zijn drama, filosofie, tekenen en wiskunde D. In 2023 'dubbelt' onze school. Op twee locaties komt een volwaardig (kleiner) MLA: in de Pieter de Hoochstraat en in de nog te bouwen Sluisbuurt. Alle leerlingen starten in 2021 op de locaties in Amsterdam Zuid; een deel van de leerlingen gaat in 2023 'over' naar de locatie Sluisbuurt. Meer informatie hierover volgt in 2021.
