School profile
Together with the Kleintje Zuid daycare center, Basisschool Het Museumkwartier forms an integrated child center. Education and childcare are combined for children aged 2 to 12, with close coordination regarding the services offered and the pedagogical approach. Our student population reflects the diversity of Amsterdam’s residents.
We are a small-scale school with small class sizes (maximum of 25 students). This diversity among the children results in a wide range of learning levels and talents. We address this diversity by working at different levels and paying extra attention to basic skills and enrichment material (such as our 'Plus Class' for advanced learners). In addition, we offer full-time education for highly gifted students starting in Year 4 (the AMOS unIQ groups).
Beyond achieving strong academic results, we aim to help children develop into active, critical-thinking global citizens. To this end, we use the 'De Vreedzame School' (The Peaceful School) curriculum, encouraging children to foster a positive group atmosphere and take shared responsibility for their own development and class dynamics. We also nurture children's talents through cross-group 'talent hours' that focus on technical and creative development. We are a school that is constantly evolving, driven by committed teachers who are dedicated to their own ongoing learning.
