School profile

Het Hervormd Lyceum West is een school voor gymnasium, atheneum, havo, vmbo-t en tweetalig havo en vwo. Emancipatie, participatie en ambitie zijn onze kernwaarden. De belangrijkste pijlers voor ons onderwijs zijn onze persoonlijke begeleiding, het Hallo Wereld-concept en de kleinschalige, veilige leeromgeving. Daardoor gaan bij ons veel leerlingen met een hoger diploma van school dan het basisschooladvies. De mentor begeleidt een groep van +/- 12 leerlingen bij het stellen van leerdoelen en studievaardigheden. In een aantal klassen werken wij met Blended Learning. De leerlingen werken uit boeken en voor extra ondersteuning en verrijking op laptops. Hallo Wereld is een samenhangend programma in klas 1 t/m 6, waarin onze leerlingen zich op zichzelf en op de wereld oriënteren. Tweetalig Onderwijs (TTO) sluit logisch aan op ons Hallo Wereld-concept. Wij bieden dakpanklassen: mavo/havo en havo/vwo klassen, waarbij leerlingen op hun eigen niveau worden getoetst. In onze tweejarige brugklas hebben de leerlingen voldoende tijd om zich te ontwikkelen tot het juiste niveau.
